Organic Farmers & Market Report Melbourne – 29/06/2016

The Organic Butler News: Produce has started to tighten up due to the cold winter weather, heading up slightly in price, and is becoming less available, as it is in higher demand. I hope you have been forgiving of the produce over the past week, some produce may have been blemished (we are aware of the leafy greens, corn, and mushrooms), and was not in as perfect condition as you are used to. Bear with us, we are all doing our best to adjust to the new season. The last week made us really reassess our priorities. We are looking at our systems and finding solutions to work WITH the weather and what we can control. We will be ordering smaller amounts more often to try and help our farmers keep up with the demand, and spread our orders over a few days. This means that the availability of the produce will increase and we should get more of the items we have ordered. Fingers crossed. It won’t affect our community in ordering or delivery days, but you should see a slight improve in the quality. This of course is a priority to us, and we do what we can, where we can, to work with nature. It can be tricky though, so we really appreciate your understanding and patience 🙂 And of course your support.   This week my top pick is mandarines. Delicious, moreish and they’ve come down in price. Its just about the only thing that that has reduced this week!
